GABRIELSKLOOF
Visit Their SiteGabriëlskloof is the realisation of a dream for South African Bernhard Heyns, who searched for several years to find the unique piece of land that, in his words, would “root him to the spot”. In 2001 he found what was then a canola farm named ‘Avontuur’ and the penny dropped. It was soon obvious that the site had the potential to make high-quality wines with a distinctive character, and so it has proved. Gabrielskloof has been owned and run by the Heyns family ever since. That family has since grown to include members of the local community, several of whom have risen through the ranks to senior positions at the farm. Engaging with and being a part of uplifting the local community is the driving force behind the employment approach and the farm has both been part of and initiated several local upliftment programs in the vicinity. The arrival of Peter-Allan Finlayson as cellar master in 2014 has ushered in a new and exciting era for the farm, notably with the Landscape Series and Projects Range, wines from which have routinely featured in critic’s choice awards in recent years.

CRYSTALLUM VINEYARDS
Visit Their SiteCrystallum is a family-run and privately-owned winery based in the Walker Bay region of South Africa. Brothers Andrew and Peter-Allan are the third generation of Finlayson wine makers and sons of the man who pioneered Pinot Noir winemaking in the Hemel-en-Aarde region. Andrew is an architect by training and Peter-Allan a student of philosophy and economics, but it didn’t take long for the lure of wine to take effect, with Andrew drawn to the vineyards and Peter-Allan to the cellar. The company was founded in 2007 when it produced just over four thousand bottles of Sauvignon Blanc. The following vintage saw the introduction of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and Crystallum now produces these Burgundian varieties exclusively, making up its collection with multi-vineyard blends and single-vineyard wines.

MOMENTO
Visit Their SiteMomento began in 2013 while Marelise Niemann was winemaker at Beaumont Family Wines in Bot River.
She has since become known for wines of purity, elegance and honesty, working with old vines in both Bot River and the Swartland with a minimal intervention approach putting terroir front and centre.
That first vintage was two barrels of Grenache Noir and her love affair with the grape has deepened; she now works with all three Grenache varieties having added Grenache Blanc to the repertoire in 2019.
Now based at Anysbos farm next door to Gabrielskloof - where she spent four years alongside Crystallum and Thorne & Daughters - Marelise is becoming increasingly known as the champion of the variety. -
CATHERINE MARSHALL WINES
Visit Their SiteWhat began as a festive three-barrel foot stomp event attended by a handful of friends on a south peninsula beach in 1996, produced a very palatable Syrah, and saw the founding in 1997 of the first true micro-winery in the Western Cape with Pinot Noir the focus.
The aptly named Barefoot Wine Company trading as Catherine Marshall Wines has long outgrown its humble origins to become a legendary institution and exporting globally.
After scouring vineyards throughout the Western Cape, the decision was made in 2007 to source all grapes from mostly cool climate Elgin and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley for Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Chenin Blanc and the warmer sights for their red wines. -

Treasuring traditions passed down through generations whilst embracing new adventures, Carinus Family Vineyards is a vino venture rooted in five generations of vineyard cultivation. -
HERMANUSPIETERSFONTEIN
Visit Their SiteSome stories are made up. This one isn't.
In the early 1800s, a Dutch teacher named Hermanus Pieters made his way through the Overberg. He was paid in sheep to teach the farm kids. He followed the flock in search of fresh water — and landed in a spot that became known as Hermanuspietersfontein.
When the postmaster decided that name was too long for his stamp, he shortened it to Hermanus. Because we’re stubborn like that, and because we don't mind taking the long route.
Fast-forward to 2005: HPF is founded. Our cellar doors open in Hemel-en-Aarde. Our vineyards stretch into Sondagskloof. And the rest? Come taste it for yourself.

BLACKWATER WINES
Visit Their SiteA life-long dream that’s a decade old now; a love for the natural sciences led founder Francois Haasbroek down the wine route. Studying viticulture and oenology (wine making) at Stellenbosch University was the first stop, shortly followed by the formative experience of working under one of the greats of the industry, Neil Ellis. In-between a handful of harvests at Dry Creek Vineyard, Sonoma and Jackson Estate in Marlborough broadened the horizons a bit.
The following decade was spent working with Kevin Arnold at Waterford Estate in Stellenbosch, specialising in producing ultra-premium Stellenbosch wines. The creative urge, however, was always to establish something from conceptualisation to execution one day…. that day came in 2012.
Their vision is to make interesting and dynamic wines regardless of origin, they champion individual sites, growers, and cultivars; above all else, their mission is to make wines that truly surprise in their elegance and complexity.
They do not own a farm or vineyards, instead selecting the flexibility of finding fascinating and interesting sites across the Western Cape, build long-term relationships with land-owner’s and continue a journey together. -
PAUL RENE
Visit Their SiteFrom the Robertson wine valley comes a new trend-setting Bubbly enjoyed by those who appreciate the finer things in life. Expect to find it at exclusive dinner parties, uptown eateries and the tucked-away deli on the corner. Farmer and bubbly producer, Henk van Niekerk, believes it is the break away from the traditional which propelled this CAP CLASSIQUE from its humble beginnings on Wonderfontein Estate, to the fridges and coolers of a new generation of bubbly enthusiasts.
From a young age Henk stole groceries from his mother’s kitchen for his field expeditions with his fellow boy scouts. His passion and enthusiasm for mixing various flavours in his style of cooking was already clear at that age. Many years later it was the PAUL RENÉ CAP CLASSIQUE experiment that surpassed all his expectations and is now his life’s passion and living dream.
After several years of research and planning to produce what goes into the bottle, it was left to his wife Monica to take care of the outside. As a little farm girl Monica spent days in her Grandmother’s art studio and the creative mind to create the unique PAUL RENÉ CAP CLASSIQUE look was no doubt founded there.
The loving couples’ smiles are synonymous with the brand and expect to smile too if you get the chance to taste Paul Rene.

ALEXANDER VINEYARDS
Visit Their SiteAlexander Vineyards sits between mountain and sea, where wild fynbos thrive, vines root in ancient soils and wines reflect layered, restrained terroir.
In the 1960s, Alexander Moir left Cape Town’s shipyards to follow his dream of farming. Although noble, it sadly led to the loss of the land he loved. Decades later, his grandson, Stephen Newton, has proudly revived his grandfather's vision. Today, Alexander Vineyards stands as a tribute to legacy and landscape, crafting wines that honour both with care and quiet precision.
At Alexander Vineyards, winemaking is an act of quiet precision, which is why we pick early to preserve freshness, intervene only when needed, and age with care. Our wine builds character over time, whether wild-fermented in clay amphorae or aged in seasoned oak. Each wine is a reflection of our unique terroir; honest, complex, and beautiful.
Four distinct ranges, one philosophy: Integrity from soil to glass.
From the cellarable elegance of our Legacy Collection to the creativity of our Authentic Collection, each bottle is handcrafted and rooted in cool-climate Cape terroir.
